Vulcan voted Mozambique’s Best Mining Company at MMEC 2025

Vulcan was distinguished as Mozambique’s Best Mining Company during the 11th edition of the Mozambique Mining and Energy Conference (MMEC 2025), held on 7 and 8 May under the slogan ‘Transforming Mozambique’s natural resources to drive industrialisation and regional integration.’
The award recognises Vulcan’s exceptional performance in the extractive sector, as well as its ongoing commitment to community development, the adoption of innovative solutions and creativity in all areas of its operation. The award ceremony was attended by representatives from the government, the private sector and partners from the international community linked to the mining and energy industries.
The recognition was enthusiastically received by the entire team. Venkatesh Jindal congratulated the employees with the following message: “Well deserved! We are making Mozambique and Mozambicans proud. Congratulations to the whole team!”
In addition to the award, Vulcan actively participated in two panel discussions as part of the MMEC. The company’s CEO, Dr Mukesh Kumar, spoke at the sessions on the following topics:
- From mine to market: promoting optimal investment throughout the mining value chain, from extraction to treatment;
- Towards a secure energy future: expanding sustainable access, eradicating energy poverty and strengthening industrialisation in Mozambique and the region.
During the speeches, Dr Mukesh highlighted Vulcan’s contribution to the sustainable development of the national mining sector and presented the company’s vision for generating energy from coal tailings – an innovative project that foresees the construction of a power plant with significant benefits for Mozambique and neighbouring countries.
This award comes just a few weeks after Vulcan was named Mozambique’s Largest Company in the 100 Largest Companies ranking promoted by KPMG, reinforcing the company’s role as one of the country’s main agents of economic and social development.
