Vulcan invests 24 million meticais and launches new cycle of vocational training for young people in Moatize
Last Friday, 13th June, Vulcan launched a new cycle of technical and vocational training, with an investment of more than 24 million meticais, benefiting 500 young people from urban neighbourhoods and rural communities in Moatize. The initiative is part of the company’s commitment to the social and economic development of the communities where it operates.
The official launch took place during a ceremony presided over by Domingos Viola, Governor of Tete Province, who emphasised the role of practical training as a powerful tool for social transformation:
“We renew our gratitude to Vulcan for its contribution to the training of these young people and others previously trained in partnership with IFPELAC. We believe that, at the end of the programme, several families will have their lives improved, as the skills acquired will enable them to create income-generating initiatives through entrepreneurship and even enter the labour market.”
The process of recruiting and selecting the candidates involved a technical committee made up of representatives from the District Government, Moatize City Council, IFPELAC, community leaders and youth leaders.
Pedro Muendane, a Vulcan representative, emphasised the company’s commitment to education as the basis for sustainable progress:
“More than the 24 million meticais invested, what counts is the final product: young people prepared for the country’s challenges, capable of making a difference in their communities. Since 2023, Vulcan has trained more than 1,750 young people through its vocational training programmes, which demonstrates our ongoing effort to promote productive inclusion and generate practical skills among young people,” he added.
The training will be conducted by IFPELAC, Vulcan’s strategic partner in this initiative, and will cover various technical areas, such as Industrial Maintenance Mechanics and Electricity, Installation Electricity, Civil Locksmithing, Cold and Air Conditioning, Plumbing, IT, among others.
