Vulcan boosts entrepreneurship in Moatize with the launch of PROFIE
As part of its commitment to the self-sustainability of communities, and aware of the local desire for access to opportunities, Vulcan has opened another significant page to strengthen the local economy and promote sustainable development in Moatize with the launch of the Programme for the Promotion of Entrepreneurial Initiatives (PROFIE).
With a budget of 14 million meticais, this initiative was born out of a participatory
mapping of local development opportunities carried out in 2023 and reflects the company’s commitment to fostering small businesses capable of generating self-employment, expanding access to essential goods and boosting the local economy.
In its first phase, the programme will support around 167 entrepreneurial initiatives.
initiatives. Of these, 45 initiatives have already received support in the form of product kits and materials tailored to the specific needs of each business, with an investment of 5 million meticais, marking the start of a journey to strengthen community livelihoods.
Transparency and impact were fundamental pillars in the selection of projects.
projects, which followed criteria such as technical viability, impact on job creation and alignment with environmental and social safeguards. All this was possible thanks to the partnership with the Moatize District Government, the National Employment Institute – Tete Delegation and the Moatize City Council.
In addition, PROFIE offers ongoing support to beneficiaries, with technical follow-up over the next six months to ensure business sustainability.
At Vulcan, we believe that entrepreneurship is a powerful lever for transforming lives and communities. This programme marks the beginning of a joint journey towards a more prosperous and dignified future for all.
Soon we hope to bring you the success stories from this initiative.
