Vulcan honoured by Aeroportos de Moçambique for its contribution to the refurbishment of Tete Airport

In July this year, Vulcan was honoured with a Certificate of Merit awarded by Aeroportos de Moçambique, E.P., in recognition of its commitment and professionalism in refurbishing the infrastructure at Tete Airport.

The ceremony, held in the vicinity of the terminal, reinforced the partnership and collaboration between the two institutions. During the event, the Director of Tete Airport, Fonseca da Fonseca, expressed his deep gratitude for Vulcan’s continued support, highlighting the positive impact of the interventions on the airport’s image and functionality:

“Three years ago, we would not be in a situation like this! A welcoming environment, complete with a beautiful park. People comment on and admire the visible transformations. Therefore, we had no choice but to pay tribute to Vulcan. I hope that this meeting will strengthen a lasting partnership for better days,” he said.

Vulcan CEO Dr. Mukesh Kumar reiterated the company’s role as the largest investor in Tete province and reinforced its commitment to the inclusive development of the region, emphasising the importance of public-private partnerships for the progress of critical infrastructure:

“We want to ensure that those who arrive in Tete have a good impression from the very first moment. That the Government, Mozambique Airports and Vulcan are one family. This is a concrete example of how the public and private sectors can work together to transform realities,” he said.

The highlight of the ceremony was the planting of trees, symbolising Vulcan’s commitment to environmental sustainability, reinforced by concrete actions to reforest and preserve the local ecosystem.

Some of the interventions carried out at the airport include: paving and horizontal signage in the arrivals car park; painting of the access gate; repainting the roof of the main building; asphalting the road shoulders, with respective horizontal signage; landscaping maintenance of green areas; earthworks between the runway and the terminal, with a view to enhancing safety; installation of air conditioning units in the arrival and VIP lounges; and paving and horizontal signage in the arrival and departure car parks, among other improvements. With this distinction, Vulcan reinforces its commitment to the enhancement of public infrastructure and economic and social progress.
